R. Dwayn Young, 72, Johnstown, died unexpectedly on Oct 4, 2023. Born February 14, 1951, in Cumberland, MD. He is the son of R. Lynn Young and Lois D. Young. He is preceeded in death by his father and sister, Cheri L. Young. Survived by his wife of 19 years, Sherie Diehl Young, Johnstown, brother Roger D. Young and wife Debra of Murrysville, his children Marina Oliver (Willows, CA), Daniel D. Young (Chicago, IL), Lucinda Young Bull (New Jersey), his grandchildren Tanner, Emma, and Alex, and nieces and nephews Matthew, Heather, and Ashley, along with great nieces and nephews Izabella, Garrett, and Bennet. Dwayn graduated from Somerset Area High School in 1969 then began his career with Mardis Ford in Somerset. He then transitioned to Lyons Equipment and then retired from Verizon. He was a certified master mechanic. He spent most of his free time building guns, specializing in 98 Mauser Rifles. He was a highly skilled diesel engine mechanic and could troubleshoot virtually any operating issues in an vehicle. For many years, he was self-employed as a certified welder, operating Young's Garage, specializing in welding services along with other automotive repairs. Dwayne was a member of Calvary Methodist Church of Somerset for 60 years. Interment will be held at Royer Cemetery, Blair County, PA where a graveside service will be held for the family on October 7, 2023, by his cousin, Rev. Thomas Young of Clearfield County.
