Obituary

Ray Luther Emert, 85, of Somerset, died August 25, 2023 at his home. Born February 16, 1938 in Somerset, he is the son of John Luther and Iva Natalie (Burket) Emert. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul and Clark Emert, and sister Ethel Hull. Survived by his wife the former Dorothy Jean Glessner to whom he was married 64 years, children: John Emert and wife Kathleen, and Linda Humbert and husband Timothy all of Rockwood, grandchildren: Bowie Humbert and wife Hannah, Samantha Porter and husband Dante, and Troy Emert and companion Keaton Engle, great-grandsons: Oliver and Luca, sister Jean Morris of Somerset, sister-in-law Martha Emert and brother-in-law Charles Hull. Ray was a 1956 graduate of Somerset High School, he was a US National Guard veteran, he worked until his retirement as a painter for Edwin Witt Painting, and following retirement he worked 10 years as a self-employed painter for Laurel View Village. He was a member of Roof Garden Christian Church and FOE, he was know for working with his hands and being a master of everything, and enjoyed spending time with his family and going to their various functions. Friends received 1:00-2:00 p.,m. Sunday September 10, 2023 at Roof Garden Christian Church, Somerset where a service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Arthur Holme officiating In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Roof Garden Christian Church 2074 Husband Rd.
