Robert Brendle Obituary

Robert William Brendle, 89, of Somerset, died February 1, 2022 at UPMC Somerset Hospital. Born March 12, 1932 in Sipesville, he is the son of Owen Milton and Fannie Viola (Edminston) Brendle. Preceded in death by his parents, wife of 58 years, the former Betty ValJean Stahl who died in 2009, son Michael W. Brendle who died in 2019, and sister Dorothy M. Howard. Survived by his daughter Debra K. Hay of Somerset, and daughter-in-law Harriet Brendle both of Somerset, grandchildren: Allan E. Hay and wife Andrea, Heather L. Hay and friend Chris Hines, Stephen K. Hay and wife Mary, Jeremy J. Hay, Robert Charles Brendle and friend Nickol, Michael Wesley Brendle, Erin Brendle, Ashley Brendle Moore and husband Stevie, Milton William Brendle and wife Kaitlyn, and great-grandchildren: Adeline and Alivia Hay, Aiden and Enzo Moore, and baby girl Hay due in March. Robert was a 1948 graduate of Somerset High School, he was owner and operator of Brendle Farms where they had dairy cows and later raised chickens and eggs, he was also a bus driver for Somerset Area Schools for 17 years. Robert was a member of Sipesville Church of the Brethren, NRA, and was an avid hunter, especially big game hunts in North America, he was a lover of beagle dogs especially his dogs Princess and Sassy. He was awarded Conservation Farmer of the Year, Area Personality, State Energy Award, and enjoyed hunting at his cabin in Colorado. Friends received 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Sipesville Church of the Brethren where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Cecil Lohr officiating Interment Sipesville Cemetery.
