Robert Carouse Obituary

Robert Eugene Carouse, 83, of Somerset, died September 16, 2024 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born March 19, 1941 in Meyersdale, he is the son of Guido L. and Helen M. (Gauntz) Carouse. Preceded in death by his parents, and brother Louis Carouse. Survived by his wife the former Marilyn Crystal Altfather to whom he was married 62 years, daughters Crystal "Cris" Sprock and husband Craig of Somerset, Natalie Baran and husband Mark of Glassport, Julie Schrock and husband Elton of Rockwood, grandchildren Leah and Lauren Sprock, Tyler Baran and wife Cammy, Casey Baran, and Nathan Schrock and girlfriend Kaitlyn, and great-granddaughter Emily. Robert was a 1959 graduate of Meyersdale High School, he worked until his retirement as a plant superintendent for Penn Carbose Co. following retirement he delivered meals for Area Agency on Aging. Robert was a member of Lodge 358 F&AM, Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Berlin and Meyersdale Historical Societies. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Gretchen Platt, Meadow View, caregivers Sherry Tannehill, Cathy Foust, and Amy Barron. Friends received 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday with Reverend Ruth Jensen officiating.
