Robert Wilson McGee Obituary

Robert Wilson McGee, 93, of Friedens, died October 29, 2023 at UPMC Somerset Hospital. Born November 22, 1929 in Altoona, he is the son of John and Ruth (Harris) McGee. Preceded in death by his parents, twin sons, and son Roy Alan McGee. Survived by his wife the former Betty L. Brown to whom he was married 74 years, sons, Robert McGee II, Rodney McGee and wife Debra, and Raymond McGee. Robert was a graduate of Roaring Spring High School, he was a US Army Veteran of Korea where he was stationed in Germany. He worked until his retirement as a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineering Local 66 where he was a life member. Robert was also an active member of Calvary of Somerset Church, he was a driver for Meals on Wheels, and was a Boy Scout volunteer for many years, receiving the Award of Merit in 1976 and Silver Beaver Award. Following retirement Robert enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Alaska. Friends received 9-11 a.m Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset with a service to follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Raymond Lyon officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. at East Mahoning Cemetery in Purchase Line, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
