Rodney Alan Hardesty, 65, of Berlin, died November 27, 2018 at Somerset Hospital. Born March 9, 1953 in Oakland, MD, he is the son of Harold L. and Ellen (Savage) Hardesty Sr. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold Hardesty Jr. and sister Darlene Thomas. Survived by his wife the former Debra Jean Bittner to whom he was married 36 years, brother Kevin Hardesty and wife Beverly of Stoystown, also numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companions; his 3 dogs and cat: Hattie, Daisy, Faith, and Bella. Rod was a 1971 graduate of Somerset High School, and attended University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, he worked until his retirement as a Residential Service Worker for the former Somerset State Hospital, he also worked as a freelance photographer. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, and VFW Post 554. Friends received from 10-11 a.m. Saturday December 8, 2018 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dena M. Gable officiating. Contributions may be made to your local Humane Society or Animal Rescue.
