Ronald Sleasman Obituary

Ronald Edward Sleasman, 81, of Rockwood, passed peacefully into eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 18, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Born January 25, 1940, in Jones Mills, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey and Mary (Schmidt) Sleasman of Rockwood. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Nancy (Stoner) Sleasman; sisters: Sally (Sleasman) Pyle of Somerset, PA, Sandra (Sleasman) D'Antonio and husband, John, of McMurray, PA, Sharon (Sleasman) Caldwell and husband, Tim, of Somerset, PA; brother: Robert Sleasman and companion Kim Tinkey of Somerset, PA; son: Lee Sleasman and wife, Marjorie, of Somerset, PA; daughters: Lori (Sleasman) Keslar of Normalville, PA, Lynette (Sleasman) Metzgar and husband, Joseph "Buck," of Rockwood, PA, Linda (Sleasman) Peck of Somerset, PA and Sarah Sleasman of Rockwood, PA, and fiancé, Collin O'Brien of Lone Pine, PA; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; father-in-law and friend: John Stoner, Sr., of Rockwood, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was a 1957 graduate of Somerset Area High School. He worked as a pipefitter for 30 years (50-year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 354) before purchasing Stoner Furniture in Rockwood with his wife, Nancy, in 1991. Together they enjoyed serving customers in the area for 30 years with the help of many great employees, especially Ron's sister-in-law, Sandra Stoner of Rockwood. Ron was actively involved in the community and was always ready to help others. He was a member of Rockwood Rotary for 35 years where he held the office of President twice, a 50-year member of the Somerset Lodge 358 F. & A. and the Jaffa Shrine of Altoona, a member of the F.O.E. Aerie 1801 in Somerset since 1980, and a member of the Rockwood Area Historical and Genealogical Society, and the Gideons International-Somerset Camp. Most importantly, Ron was a member of Trinity Reformed Church of Rockwood, where he served in various leadership roles including president of the church Consistory and humbly attended to his pet project of caring for the building heating system. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, attending Bible study at church, working on maintenance and improvements at his home and business, tinkering in the garage with his father-in-law on their vintage Indian motorcycles, and watching his feathered friends at his birdfeeder. Ron will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community, but his greatest wish is for them all to prepare to meet Jesus so that we will all be together again one day. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 23, at Trinity Reformed Church in Rockwood, where a service will follow at 1:00 PM with Reverend Joseph Penick officiating. Interment will follow at Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Reformed Church at P.O. Box 133, Rockwood, PA, 15557.
