Ruth Marie Walker

Ruth Marie Walker, 96, of Somerset passed peacefully at the Patriot Somerset. She was born October 6, 1925 in Somerset Township, and was the daughter of Alpha and Daisy (Sleasman) Miller. Ruth was the last of her immediate family and is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dalton Blaine Walker who she married June 22, 1946 and died June 16, 1996, and brothers; Clark, Ray and Fred Miller; and sisters Mary Stahl, Ethel Rossiter, Grace Baker, Arlene Palmer, Edna Fry, and Pauline Shaulis. She is survived by a daughter Judy (William) Vilcheck and a son Tom (Linda) Walker, grandchildren are Michael (Susan) Vilcheck, their children Steven and Ashlynn; Ann Vilcheck; Melanie Walker (Eric Pacpaca) and their son Kai; Jill Walker (Matthew Robinson) and their children Reese and Harley; Amy (Telford) Perry and their daughter Tristan; Lindsey (Michael) Swearman and their children Zachary and Abigail. Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Somerset High School and was a member of Samuel's Lutheran Church. In 1977 she was recognized by the Red Cross as a five-gallon blood donor. She enjoyed her flower garden, baking pies and spending time with her grandchildren. The family would like to extend gratitude to the Patriot staff for the care and support Ruth received during her residence there. No viewing or visitation a private service will be conducted November 26, 2021 at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset with Reverend John Palko officiating.
