S. William "Bill" Riggs, of Ligonier formerly of Friedens, died suddenly on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Latrobe Hospital. Born on March 6, 1951 in Somerset he is the son of the late Sidney W. and Alberta M. (Zeltner) Riggs. He is survived by his wife of 48 years the former, Mary Ann Hauger., their three children, Michael Riggs and partner Jessica of Somerset; Julie Riggs and wife Brandy of Indian Lake, and Emily Korns and husband Justin of Somerset, grandchildren: Madalyn Powell and fiancé Stone Haley of Nashville, Isaac Riggs and Samuel Riggs of Berlin, and Alexander, Benjamin and Catherine Korns of Somerset, and brother C. Daniel Riggs of Friedens. Bill is a 1969 graduate of Somerset Area High School and earned his B.S. at West Virginia Wesleyan in 1973, and his M.B.A. at Saint Francis University in 2002. He served as the president of Somerset Welding and Steel and has been the co-owner of Riggs Industries with his brother Dan since 2006. In his lifelong tenure at Somerset Welding and Steel, Bill was proud to make J&J a globally recognized truck body brand. Bill loved to travel, and visited dozens of countries, often with Mary Ann by his side. Bill was known for his servant leadership, volunteering for hospice and ministering to prisoners in Somerset County, and making 25 mission trips to Haiti to install wells, delivering clean water throughout the country. He earned his pilot license and loved to fly whenever he could. A talented bass, Bill loved to sing, and he was a member of the Laurel Highlands Chorale and toured Europe five times with Mary Ann as part of the Wesleyan alumni choir. Bill loved the Lord, starting every day reading his Bible, and was an active member and song leader at Somerset Church of Christ. Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 1st from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, services will be private, but streamed live, at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Somerset Church of Christ with Pastor Jimmy Hinton officiating the service Interment Husband Cemetery.
