Sara Elizabeth Woodrow Maust, Berlin, PA, died on September 6, 2024, at the age of 96. She was born December 1,1927 in Somerset, PA, daughter of Irvin Flynn and Helen Baggs (Jones) Woodrow. She was preceded in death by parents, loving husband, Thomas Irvin Maust, and son, Thomas Irvin Maast, Jr, brothers Russell Woodrow and Paul Woodrow, and sisters, Helen Enfield, Pearl Binkley, Ellen Woodrow, and Louella Hauger. She is survived by daughter-in-law Kirsten Maast, Jevnaker, Norway and children: Jacquelyn Daniel and husband Paul (Exton), Helen Thompson and husband Tim, Charlene Murray and husband, Rich, and Darlene Beachley and husband John all of Berlin. Sara was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother to her family that included 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons. Sara graduated from Somerset High School in 1945 and began working at the General Telephone Co. where she created many friendships that have lasted for years. In 1948, she married Tom and together they operated Miller's Choice Dairy Farm for approximately 30 years. She worked as a teachers' aide at the Berlin High School. She was a member of the Mountaineer Homemakers Club, the Valley Sr. Extension Club, and Lady Rebekah's Lodge. Cooking and baking for family and friends was her joy in life, and she passed that love on to her family and the youth where she served as a leader in the Busy Bees 4-H Club. She opened her home to many visitors, family and friends and was often referred to as the "Hostess with the Mostest." Writing was a favorite hobby, she kept a daily journal for most of her life, wrote articles for several magazines detailing humorous stories of life on the farm, and sent cards and letters of encouragement to family and friends. But the Church of Christ, Somerset, PA, was the center of Sara's life. Her father was the minister for 49 years and it was here that she developed her Christian values that formed the basis of her well-lived life. She will be remembered for her sweet and kind soul, her heart of gold, and her big smile for everyone she met. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9.
