Sara Jane Smith, 95, of Somerset, died November 24, 2024 at her home. Born January 24, 1929 in Somerset, she is the daughter of Ralph Milton and Olive Mae (Barron) Long Sr. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Brady Ernest Smith who died February 15, 1974, and brothers Richard Milton Long, Charles Long, and Ralph M. Long Jr. and sister Martha Gilbert. Survived by her children Jeffrey A. Smith of Sandy Level, VA, Kathy J. Himes and husband John of Altoona, and David B. Smith of Somerset, grandchildren Kristin Stine and husband James, and Kelly Smith, great-grandchildren Tyler and Diller, great-great-grandchildren Bayleigh, Maci, Peyton, Bristol, Blaire, and River, and sister Shelby Rhodes of Somerset. Sara was a 1947 graduate of Somerset High School, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, former member of the VFW Auxiliary, Democrat Club, and was a volunteer/treasurer with Meals on Wheels. Friends received 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
