William Dean Marteeny, 83, of Somerset, died January 21, 2024 at UPMC Somerset Hospital. Born April 22, 1940 in Somerset, he is the son of George Edmund and Helen Elizabeth (Barron) Marteeny. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen Jean Marteeny, and brother Robert E. Marteeny. Survived by his wife the former Constance M. "Connie" Barnett to whom he was married 61 years, son Mark E. Marteeny and wife Amy of Somerset, grandchildren, Chandler, Preston, and Libby Marteeny, sister Lois Male of Ashburn, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was a 1958 graduate of Somerset High School, he worked until his retirement as a self employed farmer, and later as Somerset Township Supervisor. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where he served on church counsel, IOOF, and served in various capacities for PA Holstein Assn. PA Farmers, Farm Credit Board of Directors, and enjoyed doing lawn care, gardening, building puzzles,and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. The Marteeny family would like to thank all of those at the UPMC Somerset ICU for their wonderful care. Friends received 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Somerset, where a service will immediately follow at 11 a.m with Reverend Josh Spangler officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
