Arlene Faye (Baer) Panasci, 85, Somerset, left for her eternal Home in Heaven on March 25, 2016, at the Journey’s End Hospice House, Somerset.  Born May 21, 1930, in Somerset.  She is the daughter of Sylvester Franklin adn Cora Catherine (Shaulis) Baer. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth E. and Howard Baer; sisters, Gladys F. Flickinger; Erma C. Burk; former husband, Nicholas Panasci; son, Nicholas A. Panasci, who passed away February 22, 2016; granddaughter, Treena Burkett Roddy, who passed away December 10, 2013; and sister in law, Betty J. Baer, who passed away April 14, 2015. Survived by daughters, Kathleen A., married to Les J. Brilhart, and Lori J. Panasci, both of Somerset; sister Verna Mae Hoffman and twin brother, Arthur E. Baer, Somerset;  grandchildren, Richard “Shane” Burkett and wife Missy (Lape); Angela M. Hoffman, Jerome; Sonya J. Panasci, Somerset; Anthony “Tony” Panasci and wife Gloria, Boswell; and Dr. Nikki S. Panasci, Orlando, Fla.  Also survived by seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Arlene enjoyed attending church and lovingly referred to Pastor Sam, Margie and the entire congregation as her “church family” and was a charter member of the Abundant Life Christian Center.   Arlene was like a mother to many, but most importantly, a friend to all.  She loved singing and listening to gospel music.  She enjoyed attending special musical services at her church and in the local area.  She had a deep faith in God and was a blessing to all who knew her.  Arlene enjoyed sharing her faith by sending greeting cards.  She loved to send and receive cards and never forgot to send a card to family and friends for special milestones and holidays, or simply to offer an encouraging word. Arlene was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.  She cared for her special needs child until the time of her passing. Arlene loved spending time with family and friends, including annual trips to Idlewild, where she made it a point to ride the roller coaster and tilt a whirl on every visit.  She looked forward to every fall when she joined her daughter Kathy, and other family members on a trip to Grantsville to enjoy the shops, food, sights and fellowship.  If Arlene was along, you knew you were in for a good time!  Every Thursday night was “Survivor” night when Arlene and her two daughters would share dinner and laughs, while attempting to catch up on the latest episodes.  She also loved and enjoyed taking long rides with family simply to look at the scenery.  Arlene saw beauty in everything she observed.  She had a perpetual, beautiful smile and loved people…she loved to talk to everyone she met and always had an encouraging word. “Mom, we thank God for the gift of you, you were and still are a blessing to us…we love you so much and you will live in our hearts forever!”Proverbs 31:28, 30:31 Her children arise and call her blessed. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, where funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. Wednesday, Pastor Samuel L. Coughenour officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Abundant Life Christian Center, 306 Plank Road, Berlin, PA, 15530.  www.haugerzeigler.com
