Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Poggi, 73, of Somerset, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.  Born January 16, 1943, in New York City, New York she is the daughter of John F. and Katherine (Chatory) Seibert. Preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Frances (Seibert) Horvath. Survived by her husband, Dr. Alfred Poggi, and children:  Michelle Ervin and husband Edward, Michael Poggi married to the former Elizabeth Jones, and Christopher Poggi married to the former Rebecca Kemp; grandchildren Harry and Freddie Ervin and John and Louise; sister Veronica (Seibert) Cunningham and brother John Seibert, Jr.  Betty is a graduate of The Bellevue School of Nursing at New York University. A registered nurse, she practiced in New York City and Philadelphia before relocating to Somerset with her husband, Alfred, in 1970. A strong, selfless woman, Betty dedicated her life to helping others. She was instrumental in building and managing her physician husband’s family medical practice and participating in community organizations. Always altruistic, Betty was there the minute she was needed. Endlessly inquisitive, she was a voracious reader and loved a heated debate. But there was nothing she loved more than her family and grandchildren.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. A private service will be held at a later date with Father Daniel J. O'Neill officiating. Committal Somerset County Memorial Park.
